The bending unit (1) has a U-shaped retaining body, which has two shanks (2,2'). The two shanks possess a retaining outline (3,3') for holding wastegate bar (4) at respective free end of the bending unit. A bending punch (5) is provided, which has a punch head (6) and a machine adjustable to the bending punch. The wastegate bar clamped in the bending unit experiences a three point suspension at the two retaining outlines and punch head. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a motor vehicle with a supercharger; and (2) a method for adjusting axial length of a wastegate bar between a wastegate lever and a servo unit of a wastegate valve.
