PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus evaluating device for ensuring effective autofocus even in thinning-out reading, an imaging device, an autofocus evaluation method and a program. SOLUTION: This autofocus evaluating device includes: a luminance calculating part 152 for calculating luminance data of a predetermined size based on image data arrayed in a predetermined size; directional edge component detecting parts 153, 154 for performing edge detection in a plurality of directions to obtain a plurality of edge detection values depending on the directions based on the luminance data calculated by the luminance calculating part; blend ratio setting parts 155, 156 for setting the blend ratio according to a correlation value based on the edge detection value detected by the directional edge component detecting part and multiplying a corresponding edge detection value by a preset blend ratio; and an evaluation value obtaining part 157 for obtaining a focal point evaluation value by synthesizing a plurality of edge detection values obtained by the blend ratio setting parts.
