PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button feeding device which can feed a sawing machine for buttoning with buttons even if they are not provided with patterns such as characters having orientation in the sawing direction on their top surfaces and are formed of a semi-transparent material so that their threading holes may be positioned in a predetermined desired needle location by recognizing the images of thread hole positions of the buttons. SOLUTION: The button feeding device has a first polarizing plate 23 on the top of which a button B is arranged, a second polarizing plate 24 which is opposed to the first polarizing plate 23, an illuminating device 26 which is arranged under the first polarizing plate 23 and a camera 27 which is arranged above the second polarizing plate 24 and takes an image of the button B. The first polarizing plate 23 and the second polarizing plate 24 are arranged so that their polarization directions may be mutually perpendicular. Irradiation light linearly polarized by the first polarizing plate 23 is rotated by an optical rotary phenomenon by passage of the button B and is allowed to pass through the second polarizing plate 24.
