<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having display performance of high definition and high luminance, and low power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This plasma display panel has a front plate 2 in which a dielectric layer 8 is formed so as to cover a display electrode 6 formed on a front glass substrate 3 and a protective layer 9 is formed on the dielectric layer 8, and a back plate which is disposed face to face with the front plate 2 so as to form a discharge space, and in which an address electrode is formed in the direction perpendicular to the display electrode and a barrier rib to partition the discharge space is provided. In the protective layer 9, a base film 91 is formed on the dielectric layer 8, and a getter particle layer formed by making getter particles 92 having getter action adhere to the base film 91 so as to be distributed over its whole surface is provided.
