<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage system and its control method, wherein a response to an access from a server to a storage device is not lowered even in a storage system provided with a function to save power consumption of the storage device. <P>SOLUTION: The storage system includes a file server and a storage device which are connected to a computer via a network, wherein the file server includes a first controller and the storage device includes a plurality of storage devices constituting a plurality of storage areas and a second controller for controlling accesses to the plurality of storage areas. The respective plurality of storage areas are provided with a plurality of power saving modes which are different in shift time from the power consumption mode to a ready mode. The first controller sets an index related to response performance to an access from the computer to data when it receives data from the computer and selects a first storage area provided with the power saving mode for satisfying an index with reference to data index, and a second controller stores the data in the first storage area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
