Back washing apparatus (2) for use with a shower fitting (4) and for washing a person's back, which back washing apparatus (2) comprises a diverter tap (8), a back washing device (10) which is not electrically powered, adhesive mounting means (12) for mounting the back washing device (10), conduit means (14) with screw threaded connectors for connecting the diverter tap (8) to a mixer tap (16) and for connecting the diverter tap (8) to the back washing device (10), and container means (44) for containing soap for the back washing device (10), and the back washing apparatus (2) being such that in use the conduit means (14) is exposed and not concealed, the diverter tap (8) is in communication with a shower head (18) such that water is divertible to the back washing device (10) and/or the shower head (18), and the person washes their back by rubbing their back against the back washing device (10).
