<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic motor in which lubrication is performed between a preload member and a rotor without reducing the torque of the rotor. <P>SOLUTION: A spherical rotor 1 is arranged to touch the stator 2. The rotor 1 is pressed toward the stator 2 from above by a preload member 3. Lubricant is housed in the preload member 3 and lubricates between the rotor 1 and the preload member 3. In the surface of the rotor 1, a groove 5 recessed from the surface of the rotor 1 is provided in the circumferential direction of the rotor 1.
