<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a ceramic electronic component having highly reliable metal particle bonding; and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The ceramic electronic component 1 includes: a ceramic body 10; external electrodes 14, 15; and metal terminals 16, 17. The external electrodes 14, 15 are formed on the surface of the ceramic body 10, and contain a sintered metal. The external electrodes 14, 15 include a sintered metal. The metal terminals 16, 17 are electrically connected to the external electrodes 14, 15. A metal in the metal terminals 16, 17 is diffused into the external electrodes 14, 15.
