PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a non-aqueous pigment dispersion which shows low viscosity, is excellent in shelf stability and contains fine pigment particles with extremely low amount of coarse grains in the dispersion, and a coloring composition for color filters which comprises the non-aqueous pigment dispersion. SOLUTION: (1) The manufacturing method of the non-aqueous pigment dispersion comprises: a first step of pre-dispersing a pigment composition comprising at least a pigment, a polymer dispersant and an organic solvent using a homogenizer; and a second step of subjecting the obtained pre-dispersion to a dispersion treatment in a medium-type disperser using medium particles having particles sizes of≤0.1 mm.
