<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which has: a function of reading an original and discriminating the authenticity thereof; and improved versatility and operability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An original color copy function, a color printer function, a color scanner function, a facsimile function and an original authenticity discrimination function, etc., are loaded on a multi-functional machine, and the respective functions (modes) are switched by mode selecting buttons (a printer button 51, a scanner button 52, a facsimile button 53, a copy button 54, and an authenticity discrimination button 59). Compared with an apparatus exclusive for authenticity discrimination or the like, the versatility of the apparatus is increased, handleability is improved, and the operability of the apparatus is improved since the modes are appropriately switched.
