<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of game machines which is capable of ending a variable display at a specified stop symbol even if specifying the stop symbol after starting the variable display. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a period from a time Yms before starting a performance of the variable display to a time before starting the performance (S271: Yes and S272: No), this game machine varies upper-stage symbols at a variation speed stored in an upper-stage variation speed memory (S273), varies middle-stage symbols at a variation speed stored in a middle-stage variation speed memory (S274), and varies lower-stage symbols at a variation speed stored in a lower-stage variation speed memory (S275). The variation speed before starting the performance of the variable display is adjusted by the respective steps from S273 to S275 so that the variable display of a variation pattern specified by a variation pattern specification command 31 ends at the stop symbol specified by a stop symbol specification command 32.
