<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella with a structure in which an umbrella fabric is folded in a manner being wrapped inward in the process of closing the umbrella. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The umbrella includes: a rib group consisting of a plurality of first ribs and a plurality of second ribs radially extending from a notch; an umbrella fabric whose reverse side is supported by the rib group; a shaft; a runner provided on the shaft and made slidable in the axial direction of the shaft; and a plurality of stretchers whose upper ends are connected to only the plurality of first ribs of the rib group respectively and whose lower ends are connected to the runner respectively. The umbrella is characterized in that it includes a rotation force generating mechanism for generating a relative rotation around the shaft between the runner and the plurality of second ribs. In a preferred embodiment, the assembly of the positive side component group and that of the negative side component group are connected so as to be separable from each other.
