1292345 Apparatus for producing lead accumulator plates CARL STILL 24 Dec 1969 62929/69 Heading H1B The apparatus (Fig. 3) comprises a washing portion 10, an impregnating portion 12, a drying chamber 19 and a cooling chamber 28 for negative plates, the entry to the drying chamber 19 being through a liquid lock 14 (Fig. 1, not shown), a drying chamber 39 for positive plates' a generator 47 for producing hot inert gas and connected to feed the gas to the negative plate drying chamber 19 and a heat exchanger 55 connected to receive gas from the negative plate drying chamber 19 so as to heat air for the positive plate drying chamber 39 and simultaneously to cool hot inert gas from the negative plate drying chamber 19 and to feed the cooled gas to the cooling chamber 28. As described generator 47 is a furnace with a propane burner 46 producing a mixture of CO 2 , H 2 O and N 2 which is inert with respect to the negative plates under the conditions pertaining in chamber 19. |
