PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a living body observation apparatus for capturing an image for detection and an image for observation using one image pickup device. SOLUTION: This living body observation apparatus includes: an objective lens disposed close to a sample; an imaging device for imaging the sample; an objective lens driving device for driving the objective lens in the direction of correcting displacement of the sample; and a control device for controlling the imaging device to obtain an observation image of the sample and a detecting image for detecting the displacement of the sample.
