<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copying machine capable of obtaining a printed result, in which stripes are inconspicuous, while suppressing image deterioration in the copying processing of an original, in which unneeded stripes are caused during printing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The copying machine includes an image read means for reading the image data of the original and a print means for performing printing on the basis of the image data. The copying machine includes: a determination means for extracting luminance data from the image data, evaluating a vertical edge pixel amount and a horizontal edge pixel amount satisfying a prescribed condition included in the image data on the basis of the extracted luminance data, and determining whether or not the stripes in the vertical direction or the horizontal direction are included in the original corresponding to an evaluated result; and an image processing means for correcting the read image data by performing smoothing processing in the horizontal direction to the extracted luminance data when it is determined that the stripes in the vertical direction are included and performing the smoothing processing in the vertical direction to the extracted luminance data when it is determined that the stripes in the horizontal direction are included.
