<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suck and catch suspended dust and dirt which are floating in a room by an electric vacuum cleaner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This electric vacuum cleaner is equipped with an electric blower for sucking dust and dirt, and a dust collecting chamber for collecting dust and dirt which is installed on the upstream side of the electric blower. The electric vacuum cleaner is also equipped with a suction tool for sucking dust and dirt in the vicinity of a to-be-cleaned surface by the suction air of the electric blower, which is installed on the uppermost upstream side, and an air blowing means 4 which performs air blowing in an approximately horizontal direction from an air blowing port 6 to the to-be-cleaned surface. Then, a cooling means 7 which feeds out the air from the air blowing means 4 after cooling it is installed on the downstream side of the air blowing means 4, and thus, the electric vacuum cleaner is constituted in such a manner that the air density is made heavier by cooling the air containing suspended dust and dirt which are floating by feeding out the cool air from the air blowing port 6. Therefore, the air containing the suspended dust and dirt is made easy to move and fall on the to-be-cleaned surface in the vicinity of the suction tool, and can efficiently be sucked in.
