<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braille display capable of driving directly a member for expressing each point of braille, and not consuming energy for holding a display state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This braille display 1 includes a display panel 2 having a plurality of display holes 3, and pin members 4 held movably along a direction orthogonal to a panel face of the display panel 2, biased and held toward each display hole 3 by an elastic force of an elastic member 13, and advanced and retracted from the display hole 3 by a displacement of each frictional engagement member 11, respectively in the frictional engagement members 11 of respective vibration type driving units 5 arranged in a reverse side of the display panel 2, each frictional engagement member 11 is fixed in a position of projecting mostly each pin member 4 from each display hole 3, and the elastic force of the elastic member 13 does not exceed the maximum stationary frictional force between the frictional engagement member 11 and a vibration member 10, when pushing the pin member 4 into the display hole 3 until completely buried.
