<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contract a snap ring smoothly uniformly in a snap ring contraction device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the snap ring W is mounted at a recess 22 of a turning table 5 and a link plate 3 and the turning table 5 are turned by an air cylinder 10, a roller follower is moved along the cam groove 21 of the turning table 5 and nine slide blocks 17 and contraction pieces 20 are simultaneously moved to the inside in a radial direction along a guide groove 16 of a slide guide table 4. Accordingly, the snap ring W is uniformly contracted by the nine contraction pieces 20 so that the roundness of the snap ring W is improved after contraction. At this time, the collision of both the ends of the abutment part of the snap ring W is prevented by a collision prevention block 23 so that they are smoothly superposed with each other.
