The device (1) has a dust collecting device i.e. filter element such as mold filter, arranged upstream to a radial outer edge (9) of a brake disk (3) of a vehicle-wheel brake (2). The dust collecting device extends over a limited angle section of the brake disk along both brake disk side walls (10, 11). The dust collecting device exhibits a u-shaped cross section. The dust collecting device is accommodated in a filter housing (5) i.e. wire mesh. The filter housing comprises flow guiding sections that are enlarged in radial and/or axial directions. The filter element is made of a temperature-resistant material such as sinter metal, ceramics fleece and metal fleece.
