The invention relates to a valuable or security document (1) comprising a document body (2) having a top side (16), wherein there is formed in the document body (2) a light-guiding structure (10) for guiding light (12) in a plane running substantially parallel to the top side (16) by means of total reflections at boundary layers (13, 14) of the light-guiding structure (10), wherein the boundary layers (13, 14) have local modifications (20), such that a coupling-out of light (12) guided in the light structure (10) from the light-guiding structure (10) is promoted at locations of the local modifications (12), which leads to light emission through the top side (16) of the document body (2), and to a method for producing a valuable or security document (1).
