<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly decode an area of interest (ROI) even in image data subjected to variable length encoding. <P>SOLUTION: An area designation section 101 detects a face area of a person in an image imaged by an imaging section 11 and outputs coordinate information indicating the detected face area as the ROI to a decoding table creation section 102. An encoding section 103 performs encoding processing in the unit of a block constituted of a plurality of pixels and outputs a cumulative result of data amounts of encoded data in the unit of a block to the decoding table creation section 102. When a block in the ROI is encoded, the decoding table creation section 102 registers bit position information of encoded data of the block on a decoding table. A memory 104 stores an image encoding data file with the decoding table as a header. When displaying the ROI on a display section 12, a decoding section 105 refers to the decoding table, determines a position of the encoded data of the block in the ROI and performs decoding processing from the position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
