<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new compositions and methods for treating hyperproliferative diseases (benign tumors and cancers). <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a composition that includes a first agent selected from the group consisting of an agent having anti-inflammatory activity or acetaminophen, phenacetin, tramadol and the like and a second agent selected from the group consisting of an oxidative phosphorylation inhibitor, an ionophore, and an adenosine 5-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator and a composition that includes a first agent selected from the group consisting of an agent having anti-inflammatory activity or acetaminophen, phenacetin, tramadol and the like and a second agent selected from the group consisting of an oxidative phosphorylation inhibitor, an ionophore, and an adenosine 5-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator, and a third agent having or maintaining serotonin activity.
