<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head for preventing inferiority of an image caused by emitted light from the end face of a substrate of a light emitting element and to provide an image forming apparatus using it. <P>SOLUTION: In a housing 60 using an opaque material, the surroundings of a glass substrate 62 is covered, and the side facing an image carrier is opened. A number 64 represents a cover glass, and 66 represents an opaque cover. An external connecting circuit substrate 80 is in stacked and mounted on one end part of the glass substrate 62. A light emitting part 63 using an organic EL light emitting element is fitted to the glass substrate 62. The external connecting circuit substrate 80 is composed of a light propagating material.
