PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress the sliding of an elastic roller in relation to a support member, while dispensing with formation of a flange and knurling to the support member. SOLUTION: This friction roller 1 for a conveying device includes the circularly annular elastic roller 2 having an outer peripheral surface brought into pressure contact with a driven surface of a non-self-traveling carrier or a rail on which a self-traveling carrier travels and the support member 3 internally fitted to the elastic roller 2. The support member 3 has a divided structure in which the elastic roller 2 can be attached/detached. Inner peripheral surfaces of the elastic roller 2 are inclined to be spread to the radial direction outside from rotary shaft direction intermediate parts toward side end faces and an angle formed by the inclined inner peripheral surfaces 2C, 2C is made a substantially right angle or an acute angle. Outer peripheral surfaces of the support member 3 are made as inclined outer peripheral surfaces 6A, 6A which are made to abut on the inclined inner peripheral surfaces 2C, 2C of the elastic roller 2.
