<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in durability and scratch resistance and further, excellent in transfer property while preventing image defects in a high temperature and high humidity environment even when a protective layer contains silica fine particles. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer and a protective layer formed in this order on a conductive support, wherein the protective layer contains a composition obtained by reacting silica fine particles having at least a polymerizable unsaturated group with an organic compound having a reactive group that can form a chemical bond with the above polymerizable unsaturated group.
