<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce torque based on fluid lubrication by thickening a fluid film in a lip sliding part, in a sealing device (bidirectional seal) in which a sliding mating member such as a rotary shaft rotates in both forward-and-reverse directions. <P>SOLUTION: A normal screw part and an inverse screw part making the pumping action are arranged on an anti-sealing fluid side inclined face of a seal lip. A recessed part is arranged on an intermediate surface of the seal lip, and a contact part is circumferentially continuously arranged in an anti-sealing fluid side part of the recessed part in the intermediate surface. Among the edge side of the recessed part, the anti-sealing fluid side part is set in a wave shape and a circumferentially symmetrical shape at least in its part.
