<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a detection error by quick and simple processing, and to enhance accuracy of detecting a pedestrian. <P>SOLUTION: This pedestrian detector/program detects a vanishing point of an input image, extracts a window image from a predetermined area by a search window, out of the input image, collates the extracted window image with a pattern image of the pedestrian, determines whether the window image is a candidate image for detecting the pedestrian or not, determines whether a pair of substantially parallel edges with a predetermined space indicating bar parts of guardrails and extended along a direction of the vanishing point exists or not in an end part area near the vanishing point of the window image determined as the candidate image, and whether a continuous edge exists at the outside of the end part area or not, determines further whether a high brightness area indicating a reflector of each guardrail exists within the window area or not, and decides the window image not indicating a feature of the guardrails as the image indicting the pedestrian. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
