METHOD FOR DETECTING LYSOSOMAL STORAGE DISEASES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting lysosomal storage diseases including at least the steps of measuring a single species of glycosaminoglycan contained in a specimen and correlating the measurement with the lysosomal storage diseases.

SOLUTION: A method for detecting mucopolysaccharidosis IV type comprises the steps of measuring keratan sulfate contained in a blood specimen deriving from an animal possibly affected with mucopolysaccharidosis IV type and correlating a measurement result thereof with mucopolysaccharidosis IV type. The method determines that a possibility of having been affected with mucopolysaccharidosis IV type is high, if the measurement result of keratan sulfate is higher than that of healthy animals, and determines that there is no possibility of having been affected with mucopolysaccharidosis IV type, if the measurement result of keratan sulfate is equivalent to that of the healthy animals.
