<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for readily and efficiently producing a crystal of a biopolymer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: (1) The method for producing the crystal of the biopolymer includes a clouding time-determining step of determining the clouding time at which a biopolymer solution is clouded by the irradiation with light; a calculation step of calculating an actual irradiation time based on the clouding time; a nucleus-forming step of irradiating the biopolymer solution with the light over the actual irradiation time; and a mixed liquid-preparing step of mixing the biopolymer solution subjected to the nucleus-forming step with an unirradiated biopolymer solution and a crystallizing agent solution. (2) The method for producing the crystal of the biopolymer includes a clouding time-determining step of determining the clouding time at which the mixed solution, obtained by mixing the biopolymer solution with the crystallizing agent solution, is clouded by irradiating the mixed solution with the light; a calculation step of calculating the actual irradiation time based on the clouding time; and a nucleus-forming step of irradiating the mixed solution with the light over the actual irradiation time.
