<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can carry out attachment/detachment of developing devices to/from it and their retraction from a photoreceptor at higher speed, and has higher reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: the photoreceptor; a plurality of developing devices each of which has a developing roller for forming a toner image on the surface of the photoreceptor and is freely attached to or detached from the body of the image forming apparatus; a motor that can be normally/reversely rotated to drive each developing roller; and a drive transmission means having a plurality of gears, a plurality of shafts and a plurality of one way clutches between the motor and the developing roller. The image forming apparatus is provided with a position detecting means for detecting the position of the corresponding developing device and controls the rotation of each motor according to the detected position, thereby adjusting the positions of the developing device and the photoreceptor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
