<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive device in which both the drive performance and impact resistance performance of a magnetic drive mechanism are increased. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the lens drive device 1, drive magnets 17 are arranged in the corners 184 and recesses 182b of the square cylinder 185. This causes the magnetic forces of the drive magnets 17 to efficiently act on a drive coil 30. The magnetic drive mechanism 5a consequently exhibits great thrust, so that the spring forces of the first and second spring members 14x and 14y can be improved. The first and second spring members 14x and 14y therefore can hold a movable body 3 comparatively firmly, thereby improving the impact resistance performance of the lens drive device 1 by the first and second spring members 14x and 14y.
