<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent gloss unevenness of a fixed image due to a temperature difference of a fixing section in a sub scanning direction, caused by paper insertion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: an image forming section 1 that transfers an image, formed on the basis of image data, to paper P, and passes the paper in contact with a heated fixing section (fixing roller 10), thereby fixing the transfer image t on the paper; an auxiliary temperature adjusting section (auxiliary heat roller 15) that adjusts the temperature of the fixing roller; and a control section that controls the image forming section and the auxiliary temperature adjusting section. The control section makes the auxiliary temperature adjusting section partially heat or cool the fixing section before the temperature difference part of the fixing section, caused in the sub scanning direction owing to the paper passage, is subjected to the contact with passed paper again.
