<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample holder for fluorescent X-ray analysis for obtaining a sample that has a flat measuring plane, will not generate uneven wave, camber or the like in the step of sample preparation, and is accurate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This sample holder for fluorescent X-ray analysis has a flat plane, formed of a metal ring and a powder-like filter paper that is filled into the ring and pressed. The metal ring and the powder-like filter paper are pressed. The inside diameter of the metal ring before press is 30 mm or less, and the thickness is 5 mm or less. The amount of filled powder-like filter paper is 2-5 g. The metal ring is made of aluminum, aluminum alloy, copper, or copper alloy. In the preparing method of the sample for fluorescent X-ray analysis, the powder-like filter paper is filled into the metal ring, it is pressed lightly; liquid containing a material to be analyzed is then dropped and absorbed into the filter paper; this is dried, it is press-molded again to reduce the inside diameter of the ring; and the filter paper is compressed, thereby acquiring the flat plane.
