<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil retaining part capable of easily forming a lubricating oil retaining part excellent in lubricating oil retention properties on an inner circumference surface of a cylinder bore. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An annular groove 3 is formed on an inner circumference surface 1A of a cylinder liner 1 by pressing a cylindrical projection part of a die at first. A conical hollow part 4 is formed by plastic deformation by pressing a conical projection part of the die on a center of the annular groove 3. An inner circumference edge part of the annular groove 3 is pressed out to a radial direction outside, an opening part of the annular groove 3 is made narrower by a press out part 5, and an oil pocket 7 of which groove inside part expands in a radial direction wider than an opening part are formed. Consequently, the lubricating oil retaining part 2 can be easily formed. Since quantity of lubricating oil flowing out from the groove can be restrained while keeping volume of the groove retaining the lubricating oil large by making the opening part of the annular groove 3 narrower, lubricating oil retaining properties can be improved.
