摘要 Disclosed is a novel optical anisotropic film useful for optical compensation of a liquid crystal display device.  The optical anisotropic film has a deformed twisted spiral structure formed from a liquid crystal composition comprising an optically active compound that undergoes a change in twisting force upon exposure to light.  The optical anisotropic film is produced, for example, by a process comprising the following sequences of steps (1) and (2): (1) heating the liquid crystal composition to a temperature of T1 and (2) applying polarized light to the liquid crystal composition at a temperature of T2 wherein TNI 1 CN 2 NI (XII).  In the formulae, TNI represents a temperature at which the liquid crystal composition undergoes phase transition from a cholesteric phase to an isotropic phase; and TCN represents a temperature at which the liquid crystal composition undergoes phase transition from a crystal phase to a cholesteric phase.
