The system has a fuel cell (2) e.g. polymer-electrolyte-membrane fuel cell, for generating an electrical current from a hydrogenous anode exhaust gas and an oxygen-containing cathode exhaust gas. A residual gas burner (3) burns the hydrogenous anode exhaust gas of the fuel cell with the oxygen-containing cathode exhaust gas of the fuel cell. A bypass (36) removes the cathode exhaust gas flow from a combustion chamber (4) of the residual gas burner and supplies the removed cathode exhaust gas flow into a burner exhaust gas of the residual gas burner. |
