Piston engine with integrated balancer shafts

The engine has window provided on a crankcase (2) of a compensation shaft unit and surrounded by a flange (16) that forms a separating surface. A housing (20) of the shaft unit is fixed to the surface using screws. A compensation shaft has a toothed wheel that protrudes through the window inside the crankcase. The shaft is driven by another toothed wheel (10), which is arranged on the crankshaft. The housing has another separating surface, which is displaced in order to adjust the amount of engagement clearance on the former separating surface of the crankcase before the screws are tightened.
