Coloured stainless steel surface and method for colouring stainless steel

The colored stainless steel surface comprises a thin porous oxide coating that is obtained through the treatment of stainless steel surface with a solution containing sulfuric acid and chromic acid, and a sol-gel-lacquer layer that is thermally hardened and partially exists in the pores of the oxide coating. The sol-gel-lacquer layer with the oxide coating forms a solid composite layer. The porous oxide coating has a pore part of 15-35% (v/v) and layer thickness of 1 mu m. The surface of the oxide coating and the sol-gel-lacquer layer has a layer thickness of 0.5-3 mu m.
