PURPOSE: A subsurface topography checking system is provided to find an underwater detector, if the underwater detector is separated from a discovery ship, by mounting a lifting unit on the underwater detector. CONSTITUTION: A subsurface topography checking system comprises an underwater detector(100) and a probing device(200). The underwater detector comprises a lifting unit, a distance measurement unit(130), a positioning unit(140) and a transmission unit(150). The lifting unit comprises a control unit which opens a valve if a water pressure signal is received. The distance measurement unit is installed in the underwater detector body and measures the distance from the seafloor. The positioning unit measures the location of the detector body. The transmission unit wirelessly transmits a ranging signal from the distance measurement unit. The probing device comprises a receiver(240), a controller(250) and an output unit(260).
