A miniature, weather resistant proximity reader 1 containing a RFID proximity tag reader. The proximity reader has a housing 3 with a pair of screw posts 17, 19 that extend through the housing to enable the proximity reader to be secured to a wall or other structure. A pair of screw caps cover the screw posts and are secured in the housing via engaging arms that engage with corresponding slots in the housing. A front facing speaker is mounted in the casing and a plurality of speaker holes are formed in the housing adjacent and surrounding the screw post. These speaker holes are in turn covered by a screw cap. The thickness of the screw cap may be reduced adjacent to the speaker holes. An annular gasket 23 may surround the speaker holes. Also disclosed is a process of manufacturing a proximity reader. |
