<p>Light metal scrap recovery furnace consists of several chambers which are offset relative to a common axis round which they can be rotated by 180 degrees. The melting and preheating chambers are separated by a wall with communicating channels. In the preheating position, the melting chamber basis is at a lower level than the lowest communicating channel with the preheating chamber. In the melting position after 180 degrees rotation, the floor of the meltind down trough in the preheating section is lower than the floor of the melting chamber. As the result of this metal from the melting chamber runs into the melting down trough in the preheating chamber, melting down the preheated scrap by direct heat transfer. The furnace design avoids the difficulties normally encountered in the removal of the ferrous metal skeletons remaining after melting down of the light metal charge.</p> |
