FIELD: mechanics. ^ SUBSTANCE: device for making slots in ice includes driving device which is installed on moving load-carrying platform which is attached to it in a cantilever manner, frame for arranging a cutting element on it. Cutting element is made in the form of endless closed chain or rope with teeth fixed on them, which is retained in strained position with chain-drive and tension sprockets. Axis of rotation of tension sprocket is fixed eccentrically with shift of axis centre from geometric center of circle of tension sprocket by 0.2-0.5 of height of cutting teeth, and radius of guide rollers is decreased by the value of tension sprocket eccentricity. ^ EFFECT: increasing slot cutting speed and reducing power consumption. ^ 1 dwg
