A stable, aqueous, detergent composition contains, by weight, (a) 10-22 per cent of sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, (b) 15-22 per cent of potassium pyrophosphate, (c) 2-5 per cent of coconut fatty acid monoethanolamide, (d) 3-5 per cent of ethanol, and (e) either 3-5 per cent of glycerol or 1-3 per cent of 1 : 2-dihydroxypropane. The compositions may also include up to 6 per cent of urea, and up to 2.5 per cent of sodium silicate solids, in which latter case the amount of (a) used is preferably 10-15 per cent and of (b) preferably 15-20 per cent. Tarnish inhibitors, such as benztriazole, optical bleaching agents, colour and perfume may also be incorporated. According to the Provisional Specification, ingredient (a) may be a sodium alkylbenzene sulphonate containing 9-15 carbon atoms in the alkyl group. |
