PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to improve afterimage by supplying a modulated data signal having large difference from the gradation of an image data signal in a period that an afterimage is generated. CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal display device, a frame memory(181) receives a data signal of a previous frame. A data comparator(183) compares a data signal of a previous frame and a data signal of a current frame. A selection controller(185) controls a selector by using an output signal from data comparator. A first data modulation calculator(188a) and a second data modulation calculator generate the modulated data signal by using data signals of the previous frame and the current frame.
