PURPOSE: A communications device and a power management method for operating without external power supply are provided to conveniently install the communication device without external power supply such as a battery or an adaptor. CONSTITUTION: A PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) connection unit(110) is connected to PSTN. A rechargeable battery(120) is charged by using the power provided in the connected public switched telephone network. A power control unit(130) controls the power provided in the connected public switched telephone network and the power source charged in the rechargeable battery. The power control unit controls the charged power source in order to be used as the internal power of the communications device.
