PURPOSE: A reciprocating compressor is provided to reduce dead volume by moving the top dead center of a piston during saving operation to the same point with the top dead center during the power operation. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocating compressor comprises a crank shaft, an eccentric sleeve(20), a connecting rod(30), a latching unit, and a sleeve constraining unit(60). The crank shaft has an eccentric portion(11). The latching unit is installed between the eccentric portion and the eccentric sleeve of the crank shaft. When the crank shaft rotates in one direction, the latching unit constrains the eccentric portion and the eccentric sleeve and carries out power operation. When the crank shaft rotates in the other direction, the sleeve constraining unit constrains the connecting rod and the eccentric sleeve and carries out the saving operation.
