PURPOSE: A scan device, an image forming apparatus, and a motor control method thereof are provided to compensate a control signal for motor driving through a test image, thereby reducing fluctuation generated during the motor driving. CONSTITUTION: A scan head(30) includes a sensor unit(35) for reading image information from light reflected from a document(20). A motor(41) drives the scan head. A controller(45) controls the driving of the motor by using a driving signal. The driving signal is updated by using relation between the driving signal for driving the motor and real transition speed of the scan head driven by a preset driving signal. A test image formed in the document is scanned. The test image includes plural patterns formed with same intervals.
