Tubular glass fiber insulator for e.g. ship, has mat coated on binder, and band fixed on external circumferential surface after central cutting and before lateral cutting of insulator, where water-repellent agent is mixed with binder

The insulator (100) has a glass fiber needled mat coated on surfaces of a binder prepared by mixing and beating an organic substance i.e. carboxymethyl cellulose, and inorganic substance i.e. bentonite, with a fire-retarding agent i.e. magnesium hydroxide, and water. A fluorine based water-repellent agent is mixed and beaten with the binder. The insulator is subjected to central and lateral cuttings. A transversal glass/aluminum band (50) is fixed on an external circumferential surface of the insulator, after the central cutting and before the lateral cutting of the insulator. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a glass fiber tubular insulator.
