Candle wicks are erected in a ring jet with holes directing air at an angle onto the wick and thus lifting the wick off the handle body and erecting it for clamping and further processing, e.g. dip coating. The candles are fed into the ring jet on arms and mounts under control of a valve system, with a second valve to control the wick clamps onced erected, and a third to control the air feed to the ring jet. Air flo can be continuous, or pulsating. The jet is fitted with gps. of holes to suit the various candle sizes. Candle rejects are minimised as wick is always raised and held clear, and if the air is heated, wax adhering to the wick can be removed thus improving wick quality.
|
