PURPOSE: A terminal device control method using a short message and a wireless communication modem using the method are provided to simplify an interface for controlling a terminal device, thereby controlling the terminal device using a short message. CONSTITUTION: A demodulation module(210) converts a wireless communication signal into a data packet. A modulation module(250) converts the data packet into a wireless communication signal. The modulation module transmits the wireless communication signal. A header extractor(220) separates a header field from a data field of a short message. A control message decider(230) decides whether the header field includes a control bit string.
